From Monday, November 9, 2020, to Wednesday, January 20, 2021 – the US Presidential Inauguration Day - I took at least one photograph a day using my mother’s Kodak Instamatic X-45 camera and expired 40-year-old film. This camera has only two modes for shooting, indicated above the lens: ‘2 to 6 feet’ and ‘beyond 6 feet’. Inspired by the relevance of ‘beyond 6 feet’ in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, I used this setting to make ordinary images of daily life. Simultaneously, I took a screenshot of the CNN and Fox News websites and chose six daily headlines to include in this book. I worked on this project from my home in Rhode Island, the US’ smallest state, which, on Sunday, December 6, 2020, had the highest number of new COVID-19 infections per capita in the world.
